Christian Dior by John Galliano Fall 2003 Runway Red Leather and Fur Vest

During his time at Christian Dior John Galliano did the impossible - he turned such controversial topics as S&M and fetishism into desirable, popular and wearable fashion statements. For Fall/Winter 2003-2004 Ready-to-Wear John Galliano took inspiration from his previous spectacular haute couture collection and translated his ideas into sexy, frilly, joyous and colourful clothes and accessories. He called that «Hardcore Romance», and this became a theme of the collection. A mix of rubber, leather, suede, python, knits, silk, organza and chiffon in dazzling colours, the house described it as 'a romantic stance playing with the idea of fetishism'.
This stunning red leather vest was part of the collection, worn by Alek Wek on the runway. The vest is adorned with a beautiful matching red fur and several belts with branded metal buckles.
