Jean Paul Gaultier Spring 2002 Fringed Denim Jacket

Gaultier described his Spring 2002 couture collection as being about “a woman who dresses, then heads out for a torrid night”. And this kind of woman is never boring. In his best tradition, Gaultier decided to add some magic to the denim runway pieces. A magnificent jacket with floor-length sleeves was almost entirely made of blue threads connecting denim pieces together. This effect of weightless material and couture attention to detail was of course carried over to Gaultier’s secondary lines. This JPG Jeans Denim jacket with indigo fringe detailing could have been iconic on its own, but completely stole our hearts when Lil Kim chose it for her outfit in 2003. The dense denim fabric is in contrast with myriads of thin threads that slightly expose the body. A perfect piece for a torrid night!
